11/06/2014
FIS™ (NYSE: FIS), the world’s largest provider of banking and payments technology, consulting and outsourcing solutions, today announced the completion of the full rollout of its TRANSAXpay card encryption and payment processing solution at 466 Halfords stores, making payments faster and highly secure for Halfords’ customers.
Internal surveys at Halfords stores have shown that customers save an average of 19 seconds per card transaction, which means that the retailer now offers one of the fastest payment counter experiences in the UK and should help reduce queues and speed up checkouts. Working with point of sale equipment provider BT Expedite, the rollout has seen the solution implemented on over 2,300 new point of sale PIN Entry Devices at every Halfords till.
“It has been a pleasure to partner with Halfords Group PLC on this project,” said John Fogwill, Payments Solutions Director, FIS. “We have a longstanding relationship with them, and the TRANSAXpay solution now means that they can accept credit and debit cards, gift cards, Love2Shop cards and cheque payments through FIS software at their tills.
TRANSAXpay software enables retailers to protect their customers’ card data at the point of sale, delivering faster transaction times, greater reliability and access to emerging payment technologies, without placing huge demands on retailers’ IT operations. The software isPayment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) certified and helps retailers to meet the demands of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) in the challenging and fast moving payments landscape. Customer card data is encrypted at the PIN Entry Device (PED) and routed to the FIS Payment Gateway, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified, for authorisation, settlement and financial reporting.
For Halfords, it was extremely important to ensure that all of their PEDs were future-proof for PCI compliance, technological innovations, shopper behaviour and retail environment developments.
“We are building a long term plan for all our payment systems and processes,” said Peter Lawrence, Principle Business Analyst, Halfords Group PLC. “With the TRANSAXpay solution, the cost of change is minimised as the security and flexibility built into the system allows Halfords to deliver a faster shopping experience”.
